Ever wonder how a simple slab of clay turns into a gold-detailed, handmade ring dish that ends up on someone’s nightstand, vanity, or wrapped as the perfect gift?
Here’s a peek behind the scenes of my most-loved product — from messy table to memory-maker.
Step 1: It Starts With Research, Trends & a Little Intuition
Before I ever roll out the clay, I’m deep into market research and trend forecasting — watching what colors, motifs, and textures are resonating across design, fashion, and gifting. I also look for inspiration in everyday beauty: a vintage pattern, a flower from a walk, or a mood I want to capture.
From there, I sketch and hand-design elements I truly love — things that feel timeless, joyful, or deeply personal. Sometimes it starts with a feeling, sometimes with a trend — but every design is thoughtful, not random.
Note: These are small-batch, handmade ring dishes — not mass-produced, not molded. Every piece is different.
Step 2: Shape, Cut & Embrace the Wobble
I roll out the clay, cut and sculpt each ring dish one by one. A slight wave? A crooked edge? That’s the charm. These pieces are perfectly imperfect — and that’s exactly the point.
Fun fact: Most customers say they love how unique their piece feels. It’s not “just” a dish — it’s one-of-a-kind.
Step 3: Bake It ‘Til You Make It
Unlike traditional ceramics, I don’t use a kiln. These clay ring dishes are baked in the oven — right in my studio (usually with coffee brewing nearby). Once cooled, I start layering on color, texture, and that signature gold detailing.
Then? A glossy topcoat gets added. The result? A smooth, durable, lux-feeling dish that’s ready for daily life or gifting.
💡 Step 4: What It Becomes
You’d be surprised how many ways people use these. Here are just a few real-life uses from my community:
-
A safe spot for rings on the nightstand
-
A little place for crystals
-
A desk tray for paper clips and gratitude notes
-
A hair tie holder in a teen’s bathroom
-
Or simply… a beautiful reminder of a moment, a person, or a place
These aren’t just ring holders. They’re tiny keepsakes that carry meaning.
Step 5: Wrapped With Love
Once cured, cleaned, and quality-checked, I wrap each dish with tissue, giftbox, and care. I ship them from my workspace to your doorstep — whether it’s a wholesale order for a shop in California, or a birthday gift headed to Texas.
Everything is made and packed by hand — by me. And I truly wouldn’t trade this process for anything.
Why It Matters
When you buy handmade, you’re not just buying a product — you’re buying time, skill, intention, and a tiny piece of someone’s heart (in this case: mine).
