Faux Whipped Cream Charm Craft for Kids & Families Near Dallas — Meet Decoden

You've probably seen it scroll past on TikTok or Instagram at least once. A pencil case or a trinket dish, or a phone case, absolutely covered in swirls of what looks like whipped cream frosting, with tiny strawberries, stars, bows, and little charms pressed into every inch of it.

And you thought: what is that, and where do I do it?

That craft has a name. It's called Decoden — and you can try it right here near Dallas, at our studio in Plano, TX.

So What Exactly Is This Craft?

Decoden (pronounced deck-oh-den) is a Japanese craft where you pipe faux whipped cream, a silicone-based material that looks and pipes just like real frosting — onto everyday objects, then press in kawaii charms, rhinestones, and tiny decorations before it sets.

The result looks like someone took a dessert shop and turned it into an art piece. Dreamy, over-the-top, and completely one-of-a-kind.

It started in Japan as a way to decorate phone cases "decoden" is short for decorated denwa (denwa means phone in Japanese) but it has grown into a full creative art form. Today people decoden trinket dishes, pencil cases, mirrors, jewelry boxes, and more.

If you've been searching for:

  • a faux whipped cream craft near Dallas
  • a kawaii charm craft for kids
  • a cute piping craft workshop DFW
  • a Japanese art class for tweens near me
  • or just "that TikTok frosting craft"

…you've found it.

What Does It Feel Like to Do?

Honestly? It feels like decorating a cake, except the cake is something you get to keep forever.

You'll load your piping bag, choose your tip, and start swirling. There's a satisfying, therapeutic rhythm to it. Then comes the charm placement, hunting through the selection for just the right piece to go in just the right spot. Most people get completely absorbed in it within the first five minutes.

It's the kind of craft that's hard to explain until you're doing it, and then you immediately understand why people are obsessed.

Everyone. And we genuinely mean that.

  • Kids ages 9 and up work fully independently
  • Ages 6–8 are welcome with a hands-on adult alongside them
